Follow-Up Treatments

Follow-up appointments are shorter and build on the work we’ve already started. Each session begins with a brief check-in to see how you’ve been feeling since your last treatment, followed by another look at your pulse and tongue.

I’ll usually have a loose plan for each treatment, but this is always flexible. Treatments are adapted to how you show up on the day and to the signs your body is presenting with at that moment. This allows us to respond to changes as they happen, rather than following a rigid formula.

Your initial consultation is a longer appointment, allowing time to fully explore what’s been going on for you. We’ll talk in detail about what has brought you for treatment, and I’ll take a comprehensive health history to understand your body as a whole.

I may ask questions that feel unrelated to your main concern — such as sleep, digestion, energy levels, emotions, or how you respond to stress. This is because acupuncture is a holistic medicine, and diagnosis involves looking at the whole person, including lifestyle and emotional wellbeing.

As part of the consultation, I’ll also take your pulse and look at your tongue. These are important diagnostic tools in Chinese Medicine and help me understand what’s happening beneath the surface, even if they feel a little unusual at first.

Your initial appointment includes your first treatment, which is usually gentle and may involve only a few needles. I like to ease people in while getting a sense of how responsive your body is. Acupuncture is powerful, and often the most simple, carefully chosen treatments can be the most effective.

After your appointment, I’ll bring everything together to form a diagnosis and create a treatment plan, ready for follow-up sessions if you choose to continue. There’s never any obligation — it’s important that acupuncture feels like the right fit for you.

Book three follow-up treatments after your initial consultation and receive £10 off each session

Acupuncture is a process, and many people benefit most from a short course of regular treatments to build momentum and allow the body time to respond. After your initial consultation, if we feel that ongoing treatment would be supportive for you, you are invited to book your next three sessions and receive £10 off each appointment.

Treatment techniques

Acupuncture treatments are always tailored to you, and I may use a combination of techniques depending on your needs and preferences. All techniques are discussed beforehand, and nothing is ever done without your consent. My aim is always to work gently, respectfully, and in a way that feels supportive and safe. Your treatment may include:

Fine, sterile needles are gently placed at specific points on the body to help regulate systems, ease symptoms, and support the body’s natural healing processes.

A warming technique using the herb mugwort, often used to support circulation, digestion, energy levels, and hormonal balance. It can feel deeply nourishing and comforting.

Gentle suction cups are placed on the skin to encourage circulation, release tension, and support the movement of stagnant areas. Often used for musculoskeletal pain and tightness.

A smooth tool is used on the skin to help release tension, improve circulation, and support recovery. This can be particularly helpful for tight muscles and areas of restriction.

Specific points on the ear are used to support areas such as stress, sleep, pain, and emotional wellbeing.
